Day 5 of 31 Days of Halloween

My horror series, Rabbit in Red, has been called "a love letter to horror movies." If you've read it, you know I love my horror! And every October, I enjoy watching as many horror movies as possible. Don't you?

I was challenged by my local Barnes & Noble to develop a list of 31 horror movies to watch, one a day for October. My only problem is that I couldn't pick just one.

For October 5, enjoy the following picks!

Horror Author Joe Chianakas pick-of-the-day:

LADY IN THE WATER

It's a blend of horror, mystery, comedy, but overall I love this story. The characters are great, and the movie gets better every time I watch it. The critics were harsh (have you seen the movie-- I'd be harsh, too, as M. Night has fun poking at the critics). Give it a watch!

Available on: Cinemax, iTunes, Amazon

Rabbit in Red pick-of-the-day (a movie referenced in an upcoming part of my horror series):

THE VISIT

Another M. Night pick, and I loved this one, too! It's creepy as hell, has great comic moments, and brings back the classic M. Night twist that we all had expected. As a writer and director, he proved he's still got originality and talent with this great movie.
Available on: Cinemax, iTunes, Amazon

The Magnificent Movie Emporium pick (join the movie group by clicking the link):

My friend Dave runs a fun movie group on Facebook, so I've been asking him for his picks, too, to give you some extras!

SALEM'S LOT (1979)

Classic Stephen King, and it just got a Blu-Ray release last month! This is how the master of horror does vampires.

Available on: Watch it Friday, Oct 7 on IFC; also available on Amazon
